My mom sent this cartoon this morning and said "remember the flame thrower?" Sort of a strange question to be asked by your mom, right? Not when you have an older brother who was fascinated with fire and war movies and will try to build it if possible. He built his own with a metal pipe that he pored gasoline into and then lit on fire. The pipe and shoe he had spilled gasoline on both lit on fire. I don't remember if he just danced around until it went out or if he turned on the hose. I just remember the shoe on fire. Another genius moment in the Baker household. There are so many more.

I don't remember my shoe catching on fire!
I do remember using WD-40 and a lighter to make a really cool blast of fire though.
The original design was for a bottle rocket launcher, btw.

I distinctly remember a metal pipe painted black, a flammable liquid and a shoe on fire. You were in the backyard by the door, I was inside holding the door open. You loved fire so much I can't believe it was a dream. I never thought I would meet someone who loved fire as much as you and then I worked with clients who had grown up on farms and suddenly they were all comparing the items they had blown up or started on fire. Turns out moving to the city is the only thing that differentiated you - and they were way more dangerous.
