Disowned by the Dog

I'm pretty sure Lily will be disowning me soon. Yesterday I took her to get her teeth cleaned and while the vet tech assured me she had the sweetest smelling breath ever (too sweet actually - her breath smells like cotton candy and I sort of miss the wet socks smell). The vet tech also told me Lily looked too cute so she fed her pizza and garlic bread. Ummm...didn't you just clean her teeth? and also tell me she shouldn't have food until I took her home and then only a little bit to make sure her stomach was settled? Do you hate me vet tech?!?

Lily looked like she had just been released from detox. Groggy, sporting a lovely shaved patch on her leg where the IV went and wet fur from the cleaning. It was just about the saddest thing I have ever seen and she kept whining on the way home. My poor little baby. Her leg where the IV went was bothering her so I gave her some aspirin before I left for work, brushed her and even set her on the back of the couch for a little while to see if she would be interested. She did growl and bark a bit which let me know she is still ready to defend the house even when gimpy - as long as there is a layer of glass between her and them.

I hope she feels better when I get home tonight. Or tomorrow when I take her to the groomer and she deals with the indignity of getting clipped and cleaned. Or Sunday when I drop her off at Laura's and go on vacation/business trip. I fear her acts of revenge. I hope she doesn't poop in my shoe.
