I Have a Dream

Years ago I read the biography of Eleanor Roosevelt and learned that she was instrumental in starting daycares in businesses that employed women during WWII. She supported the daycares after it was discovered that women were leaving their children locked in the car all day long. It was the ideal for daycare, with few children to one adult, good meals and good healthcare. As soon as the war ended, the daycares were closed in favor of women returning home to take care of their families. Daycares today are not half as good (or, if they are, cannot be afforded by the general public). I appreciate when a business offers a daycare for their employees, but naturally, I want more. I want employees to have the opportunity to volunteer some of their time in the daycare during the workweek. This gives parents an opportunity to interact in the environment that their child is in most of the time. It also gives non parents a kid fix that may improve a day previously thought spoiled by an unhappy client (it may even offer insight in dealing with unhappy clients as they are very similar to disgruntled children). I have no idea if it's feasible or if the insurance would be crazy high, but it's a dream, and if I have an opportunity to do it one day, I will. That's all.

Sounds like a fantastic idea. So what are you going to do to make it happen?...:)

My first step is to win the lottery or find a sugar daddy. From there, insurance, competant staff, healthy food and employees willing to make a little less to pay for the daycare center. I am researching it, but I don't even own my own business, so I'm not sure how applicable it is for awhile.
