Denver Diaries, Part 3

Hiking up to the Glacier
Originally uploaded by wittyandsmart.
After the Bump and Grind, this is what I would consider the highlight of the trip. Hiking in the mountains. It was the perfect day for the hike only overshadowed by the fact that Beth's check engine light came on and we were all freaking out about it. Several anxious phone calls to Mark to sort out what the problem was we were only feeling slightly better. Beth and I had to tell each other to shut up because I was trying to stay positive which was driving her nuts and she was saying the f*word over and over and over and over which was driving me crazy. So we all fell silent hoping the light would just turn off and be nothing at all. The majority of Tuesday was spent at a mechanics garage while Beth was at work finding out that it's probably a funky wire and not the transmission. Phew.

But the hike was lovely. There were some crazy snowboarders with their boards on their back hoping to snowboard down the glacier. It was a pretty small glacier for all that work to get to. And we did stop in Idaho Springs on the way back to get lunch and drink some of the best rootbeer I've ever had. Too bad last night when I put the last of it in the refrigerator (yes, I purchased a case of it and dragged it home on the airplane with me) I saw John 14 6 listed on the packaging and looking it up, it said something about only knowing Jesus will get you to heaven. Great. Why does there have to be jesus in my rootbeer?!?! That totally ruined it for me. I thought the body of Christ was reserved for grape juice at church. It's not that I'm an atheist, I just find that when you mix Jesus and everyday retail, the people you deal with are a little bit nuts and not always that Christian-acting. Obviously I'm making a sweeping generalization. Thankfully, I'm blissfully unaware of offending anyone unless they leave a comment. Since there are rarely any comments, it must mean I'm totally accepted by everyone reading this page on the INTERNET. Obviously.

You'll have to go visit Beth. She loves company. She probably lives in the only super cool neighborhood in Denver.
