Why My Family is Better than Yours

I'm pretty sure this is bound to be the best birthday ever! My family gave me my gift early and it was a kitchenaid mixer! I stopped just short of dancing when I opened it. The only drawback is that it's too dang hot to bake anything, so I think I'll have to go get some whipping cream so I can use it for something cold.

Then I would like to say that I love that my family gets along. Seated at the table are my mom, dad and his girlfriend, Jeanette. My parents have been divorced since I was 5 and have always gotten along. Some of their girlfriends or boyfriends were wary of this assuming one of my parents still had a thing for the other, but sometimes they realize that it seems to work pretty well for divorced parents to get along versus trying to never speak to each other ever again.

As a teenager I thought the only drawback was that my parents never competed to give the better gift, they always went in on it together. Also we never got away with Jack and my parents always consulted each other on discipline.

Now that my teenage years are over and I am also old enough to recognize how unique and wonderful our situation is.

I have the best family ever.
