Fourth of July Weekend Projects
Of the list below I am ashamed to admit that I finished maybe half of them. Sigh. My intentions are always bigger than what I can actually get done. This is the pillow I made for my mom's couch. It turned out pretty cool. She loves them on her couch which is nice. I can't wait to see them in context. I did not finish the t-shirts. First I forgot to cut ribbing for the neck. I don't care if it only takes 4.5 seconds to cut ribbing, it was still frustrating. Then, I ran out of thread even though I tried to be stingy and also use white bobbin thread on the inside. Dad, I think multi-colored thread inside a shirt is a mark of greatness and a sign the seamstress was running out of thread. Then when I said it only took 1/2 hour to sew these shirts together I must have been drunk because it took an hour and a half at least. It also doesn't help if you only allot an hour and a half for all three shirts and don't finish even one of them because you ran out of thread. I worked on them again last night and have a little tiny bit left to do. Hopefully I will get them in the mail on Thursday. T-shirts aren't my favorite to sew, but they make my dad happy because he is too long waisted for store bought t-shirts. So I make them, but I tend to procrastinate them until the very last minute. I had decided to sew a project, then a t-shirt, then another project, etc., but I seem to procrastinate all projects as well so that doesn't always work out. Hopefully I can get better at it.
I did also finish the window treatments for Sarah B's house on Saturday, but not before we had to run back to the fabric store because I didn't have her get enough fabric. Nice. I can't do math. But at least they turned out cool. I'll have to get a picture of them when I'm there for Mia's birthday party. Of which I have made no gift yet. There is always Thursday night or most likely Saturday morning.
I should still be able to fix Saire's purse before I see her at kickball tonight. I got the other strap this weekend at the fabric store (where I only spent $4 - totally unheard of for me especially since they were having a big sale. I'm so proud of myself.). Now I can't go back to the fabric store until September so I'm not tempted.
The weekend was pretty nice though. Very low key compared with what I have been doing. I got some well needed rest.
