Foiled

I had very good intentions of doing yard work last night. The rain held at bay, it was a bit cold but not too much. I was so excited that it was my only evening at home I planned a whole list of activities.

First I picked up the dog at the groomers. She was so excited to get out of there I only saw the back of her so when they asked me if she looked ok, I said yes and headed for the car. When we got to the car and I got settled I noticed she looked a little like Yosemite Sam. I will post pictures later and you will all see what I'm talking about.

Then I stopped to get some wine at the liquor store in Uptown for a veggie macaroni and cheese I was making for dinner. There was a great wine sale so I bought four bottles. The bill seemed a bit high for four bottles, but I wanted to get home. When I got home and checked out the receipt it turns out I was charged for two cases of beer and some other liquor as well. I had to call and drive all the way back there with my purchase to prove I had only bought the four bottles. I was overcharged by $33.00, so I was determined to put up a fight if I had to. But the person remembered me and I got my $33.00. However, I also lost an hour in travel time and realized I was very crabby by the time I got home.

Then I made dinner. There were a lot of vegetables in this dish and I was very hungry, so I cheated and chopped them all in the food processor. Not as pretty as it could have been, but usable. It was still about 1/2 hour of prep time to get it in the oven and then bake it for 1/2 hour. I didn't eat until 8pm. By then I was far too crabby to do work in the yard, run to Home Depot to get paint, paint the light fixture, pick up my house, etc. I watched t.v., did the dishes and drank wine. Oh well.

Oh yeah, and after all that work the macaroni and cheese was only ok. Sigh.
