Two of the coolest people ever were born today: My dad and my friend, Janine.

My dad really likes sayings. He will repeat the same phrase so often that I begin to hear it in my sleep. His most recent one is "If I were in a hurry I should have left earlier." I tend to use this one on occasion myself. The one I remember the most from my childhood and (thankfully) haven't heard in years is "Hello sweet thing!" whenever a woman answered the phone. How did I become a feminist in this family? He also affectionately called me "Motormouth" when I was a kid. It was a trait I inherited from him.

Janine likes most of the same hobbies I like and has far too many of them just like me. The last time I went to visit her we made a slipcover for a chair and had a great time. She was the only person who actually gave good, constructive feedback on papers I wrote while in college. Or she led me to believe she did.

So I'm glad dad and Janine were born (especially dad because without him there would be no me) and I get this day to tell everyone else how cool they are. Yay birthdays!
